Ovulation Disorders

Ovulation disorders are the single most common cause of infertility in females. Over 40% of women with fertility issues have some kind of problem with ovulation. The normal ovarian cycle is so complex that even small deviations may disrupt the cycle and prevent ovulation.

At The Texas Center for Reproductive Acupuncture, a substantial portion of our practice is devoted to the treatment of ovulation disorders. These disorders include:

  • Amenorrhea
  • Anovulation
  • Ovarian Cysts
  • PCOS / PCOD
  • Premature Menopause
  • Premature Ovarian Failure (POF)
  • Resistant Ovarian Syndrome

By combining acupuncture with Chinese herbs, nutritional consulting, lifestyle counseling, and stress management, our clinic has had tremendous success in helping women to ovulate naturally without the use of pharmaceutical or fertility drugs.

In the practice of Chinese Medicine, we do not view the reproductive system in isolation. Instead, we recognize that reproduction is a delicate synthesis of many systems working together. Our treatment focuses on harmonizing the reproductive system with the endocrine, nervous and digestive systems. When these systems are all fine tuned and functioning optimally and harmoniously with one another, reproductive health and fertility outcomes are markedly improved.

Treatment for Ovulation Disorders is customized. We treat each person individually based on their health history, symptoms and clinical presentation. However, there are a few guidelines in treatment that we apply to every patient. These include:

  • Improving digestion
  • Restoring proper absorption of nutrients
  • Regulating sugar metabolism and insulin absorption
  • Restoring healthy balance of testosterone, estrogen, progesterone and FSH
  • Dissolving phlegm accumulations that form the waxy coating found on the follicles of PCOS patients
  • Improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries to regulate follicle production
  • Regulating menstruation and basal body temperatures.

Our clinic helps many, many women with ovulation disorders every year (see our Hope and Inspiration page). If you are struggling with infertility due to an ovulation disorder, we hope to have the opportunity to make a difference for you too.
