As part of our comprehensive Fertility Wellness Program, we provide each of our patients with individualized dietary guidelines to live by. The purpose of including dietary advice is to help promote wellness, and to ensure that your body is getting enough high quality nutrition to perform optimally.
As a general rule, we try to incorporate more nutrient rich foods into our patient’s diets and try to do less restriction. Most of the changes that we ask our patients to make are subtle shifts, and do not represent a radical restructuring or either diet or lifestyle. A lot of patients apprehensively approach us and ask, “Are you going to make me give up X ?” X being whatever their favorite food happens to be.
In some rare cases, if it seems to be inhibiting a positive treatment outcome, we may ask patients to eliminate certain foods altogether. But in general, we try to introduce healthy, nutrient-rich foods into the diet, and focus less on taking away those special foods that make each patient’s life worth living. If there is something in your diet that we feel is preventing you from getting the best clinical results, we usually advocate for limited intake instead of complete elimination, and we also try to find healthier replacements that are just as satisfying.
