Best-Ever Golden Milk

This recipe is one that I adapted from several different sources to create my favourite cold-weather drink. This thing is amazing, and gets you feeling so cozy. I often make large batches, refrigerate it, and then heat it up as needed (although it also tastes really good cold).

This nourishing drink has anti-inflammatory properties, can may be able to help alleviate the effects of dysmenorrhoea due to its warming and stimulating properties. Because it is a very warming drink, it is advised to drink it in moderation if you have been told to avoid warming foods; it is best to drink it during Cycle Days 1-4, and is also helpful during Cycle Days 15-M!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups coconut or almond milk
  • 3 tsps black tea
  • Fresh grated ginger (as much as you want!)
  • 2 tsps cardamom
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp fennel
  • 1 tsp tumeric
  • 3-5 black peppercorns
  • Brown sugar or maple syrup to taste

Directions

Bring all ingredients (with the exception of the brown sugar or maple syrup) to a low, rolling boil, and promptly turn off the stove.

Let sit for 5 minutes. Strain before serving.
